Where It All Started
Build confidence.
Skip the burnout.
And actually enjoy your classroom.

I began at ACS Beirut in 1984, during the civil war, at a time when the school’s future was uncertain. It was there, in a new classroom, that I helped create the start of an Early Years program that did not yet exist.

After nineteen years as Early Years Principal, I made a choice that surprised many: I resisted claims that I was demoting myself, I returned to the classroom, to reclaim my roots as an educator.

In many ways, I never left the heart of education. Even while leading it, I stayed close to where learning truly takes shape: the classroom.

Across each role, my focus has remained the same: building teacher confidence, strengthening instructional clarity, and keeping student learning at the center.

That commitment has shaped every chapter since. I have trained and mentored teachers at Wellspring Learning Community, the American Lebanese Language Center, LAU, and Ana Aqra Association; founded The Reading & Writing Academy; served on an MSA accreditation team in Dubai; and co-authored an Arabic Early Childhood curriculum with AUB’s Education Department for the Kingdom Schools in Saudi Arabia.

In 2025, I formalized a lifetime of mentoring through certified practice as a Certified Master Mentor, Certified Team Coach, and Senior Certified Professional Coach. Today, I bring that depth of experience to the work I love most: partnering with educators and school leaders to create learning environments where teachers grow with purpose and students thrive.

What began as helping build a program in a time of uncertainty continues now as my commitment to offer practical guidance and regular support — improving teaching in order to improve learning.

In Their Words

What Educators And Leaders Say

Maysa is one of those few individuals that I have encountered in my career who is as comfortable and natural in a leadership role as she is in the role of a classroom teacher... I would recommend her as a highly skilled and dedicated educational leader.

David W. Warren, Ph.D.
Deputy Head of School (Retired), American Community School Beirut

I am where I am today because Maysa saw in me what I could not yet see in myself at the beginning of my career. She functions from a growth model, not a deficit model.

Kawthar Abdeldeen
Wellbeing and Students Support Teacher (PreK–1)

Working with Maysa has not only enhanced my instructional skills but also deepened my understanding of how to empower students as independent readers and writers. I am truly grateful for her mentorship.

Suzan Jouljian
PYP Coordinator, Wellspring Learning Community

Working alongside you was one of the greatest privileges of my early career. You showed me what excellence in teaching truly looks like. More than that, you trusted me, pushed me beyond my comfort zone, and helped me grow professionally. Because of you, doors opened for me that truly shaped my path. The teachers who have the opportunity to learn from you are incredibly fortunate — it is truly a privilege to be guided by someone like you.

Dima Jabr
Early Childhood Literacy & Math Coach, American Community School Beirut

Having Mrs. Boubess as my mentor was a true honor and privilege! She has helped shape my confidence and teaching practice in ways that will stay with me forever. Maysa has shaped me, with her guidance, friendship, discipline and love. All in one person. Thank you for teaching me to see clearly, not only with my eyes, but with my heart.

M. Blakey
Coaching Client, United Kingdom

Maysa distinguishes herself with daily excellence. She exemplifies master teacher instruction in all content areas. As a literacy coordinator her knowledge of curriculum and its implementation were vital components of our institutional growth. As a mentor, Maysa has been a resource for both the leadership and her fellow teachers.

Bryan Moskop
Assistant Elementary Principal

Maysa is one of the most thoughtful educators I have worked with. She has led her team in this quest for continual learning, and her teammates highly respect her because they see her as a learner as well. She is a skilled facilitator of a professional learning community. Her professionalism will be a model for others in working as a teammate as well as a coworker with administrators, especially in her quest to be a lifelong learner.

Carrie Ekey
Literacy Consultant

We are honoured to have had Maysa as a member of our team. Ms. Maysa’s vast experience in the Balanced Literacy Approach (BLA) guided our work on the Qitabi project. Her passion to promote exemplary literacy practices, her consistent ability to work under pressure, and her commitment to encourage children and adults around her to lead a literate life were noteworthy.

Najwa Shammas
Director, American Lebanese Language Center

Maysa is exceptionally talented, trained and of high trust character.

Geri Branch
Elementary Principal, ACS

Maysa will move your organization forward and will do so with exemplary dedication.

George Damon
Head of School

Ana Aqra Association is pleased to recognize the valuable contribution of Ms. Maysa Boubess to the development of the organization's early literacy work and teacher professional development.

Ms. Boubess brought to what was then Iqra Association wide experience in elementary education, early childhood leadership, curriculum development, instructional supervision and literacy. Her background and professional development provided useful perspectives at an important stage in the organization's efforts to strengthen the quality of literacy instruction.

Her contribution was particularly relevant during the organization's summer remedial interventions in 2011 and 2012, when Ana Aqra was working with children with different levels of learning need. During this period, she supported practices related to balanced literacy, differentiated instruction, reading and writing essentials, and classroom environment. These practices contributed to providing teaching and learning experiences responsive to children identified needs.
